Our Story
At Sunshine Acres Animal Rescue, we are dedicated to rescuing animals from euthanasia for not having a home. We believe that every animal deserves a loving home and a chance to live a happy and healthy life and not die cold and alone in the street. We are passionate about animal welfare and work hard to provide the best care for each animal we rescue and find them the best home. Join us in making a difference in the lives of animals in need and stopping the overpopulation problem in the world. You can make a difference by fostering or adopting one of these precious gems.
When I was 12 years old, my family adopted our first rescue dog, Jamie. Since then, I have adopted seven more rescue dogs, targeting the older population. In the last four years, my husband and I have lost all four of the rescue dogs we had, the last two passing only seven weeks apart. After my dad's unexpected passing, we were able to start this rescue, and on December 16th, 2023, we had 11 dogs brought up at once from Texas. We took Stache for ourselves, who was minutes away from euthanasia at the San Antonio shelter for not having a home, and we also took in a mom, Star, with nine puppies from Laredo.
