Here in Wisconsin, and also in northern states, most people are unaware of what is going on with animals down in Texas. All animals, not just dogs, are being abused, neglected, and killed. This is the mentality of most of the state. Dogs are tied out on chains, let go into the streets, hit by cars, beaten to death, some even hacked with machetes... but a good chunk wind up in city shelters, only to be euthanized a few days later because they do not have room for them. Most I have seen be euthanized were one year old or younger.

There are several Facebook groups dedicated to saving these dogs down in Texas that I follow. One is in the Rio Grande Valley, which is almost to the Mexico boarder, and another one I follow is dedicated to saving the dogs specifically in the San Antonio city shelter. Mind you, every city, every area, every countryside in the state is riddled with stray animals. Most will not survive. Mothers run in the streets and have litter after litter with nowhere to go with their puppies. Many die before they even get the chance to become an adult. Most die before ever getting to feel the warmth and security of a place to call home.

I have taken some screenshots from these Facebook groups to share with you below. They are not pretty, and you should be warned that they are graphic, and you may not be able to forget the images... but maybe this is a good thing. Please share the word and educate others. This is not happening in Wisconsin. I, myself, have a pet cemetery in my backyard. When we moved into my childhood home, we dug up our dogs' ashes to bring with us. Even in death, we want our pets. This is rare in Texas.
